Meet Wendy
Wendy Shaft is a relief printmaker and textile designer from Williamston, Michigan. She was raised with an enthusiastic love for observing the natural world and an enduring appreciation for art, science, literature, and theatre. She earned a bachelors in geology from Michigan State University, and during that time, she worked on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, eventually moving to Alaska. It was then that she recognized a love for the arts, and earned a bachelors in fine arts with an emphasis on book arts and printmaking, and eventually started Limner Press with her partner.
In 2005, they relocated their publishing company from Anchorage to her home town. She participated in “Really Big Prints” at Hamilton Wood Type Museum in Wisconsin, in 2025 and her 32” by 60” woodblock print “No Farms, No Food,” was exhibited at Rahr-West Art Museum, and is part of the 2026 ArtPrize exhibition in Grand Rapids.
Her work has been featured on an Arts Council of Greater Lansing Billboard, in Lansing Art Gallery’s 2021 Art Path Project and in other Michigan exhibitions. Wendy continues to work in linoleum block printing on paper and hand-dyed textiles. She has added mixed media collage and gelatin printing to her repertoire, and also enjoys collaborating with her husband Don on letterpress printed projects.
