The Arts Council of Greater Lansing is excited to announce Creative Placemaking Summit 2 hosted by the Arts Council and presented by the Greater Lansing Regional Prosperity Initiative. The event will take place on Oct. 6, 2016 at the Lansing Center on Michigan Ave. in downtown Lansing and will run from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

“We are so proud to host our second Summit and are so excited about the goals of this event, which are to help people and communities take ownership and pride in building their own creative placemaking projects,” says Arts Council Executive Director Deborah E. Mikula. “Our keynote speakers, Dr. Katherine Loflin, and Jamie Bennett will speak to these goals and so much more while also providing a window into what makes place work.” Other guest speakers at the event include April Clobes, president and CEO, Michigan State University Federal Credit Union; Michele Reeves, urban strategist, CIVILIS Consultants; Dr. Scott Witter, director of School of Planning, Design and Construction, Michigan State University; Patrick Lindemann, Ingham County drain commissioner and many more. The day will include a networking continental breakfast, video launch produced by Such Video, live entertainment, including music and a local dance production, morning and afternoon plenary and several breakout sessions as well as a buffet luncheon. In its second year, this summit promises even more sessions and speakers.

“As ambassadors of placemaking, the Arts Council is pleased to bring together all of these amazing placemaking leaders and the citizens of Greater Lansing to share ideas and commit to an even greater, more creative and authentic city through placemaking.”
