Arts Council Celebrates Fifty Years
Founder’s Party Kicks Off a Year of Celebration
LANSING, Mich., February, 10, 2015 – The Arts Council of Greater Lansing is proud to be celebrating 50 years of supporting arts, culture and creativity in the capital region, and they are preparing for a year of celebration. To kick off the festivities, a Founder’s Celebration will be held at the Old Town Marquee, 319 East Grand River Ave., on February, 12, 2015 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Those included in the recognition are the Councils more than 200 board members who have held a seat on the board since the organizations inception in 1965. “We wouldn’t be where we are today without the vision, insight and passionate drive of our founders and the leadership of our board members,” said Arts Council Executive Director Deborah Mikula. “We are honored to recognize all those who have been instrumental in building this long-standing organization, and are excited to recognize them all.
The Arts Council Founder’s Celebration is a complimentary mixer that will include wine, light appetizers and sweets, a brief presentation and campaign toast, and the public is invited to attend.
“The unwavering support we receive from the greater Lansing community can’t be overlooked as we celebrate this year,” Mikula said. “They have been with us every step of the way, joining the council, attending events and workshops and providing funding through donations and sponsorships. We are very grateful for their contribution to our longevity and success.”
As part of the year-long celebration, the Arts Council, in sponsorship with Adams Outdoor Advertising, has created two timeline billboards that can be found around the Lansing area brandishing their 50-years slogan “Here’s to 50 Years!” They are also in the planning phase of their upcoming and popular A Taste of Art & Life fundraiser that will be held at the Turner-Dodge House on May 28.
