LANSING, Mich., April 25, 2014 – The Arts Council of Greater Lansing, administrators of the Ingham County Hotel/Motel Tax Funds for Arts and Tourism, announces twenty-one non-profit organizations awarded publicity and promotion grants for 2014.

The Ingham County Hotel/Motel Tax Funds for Arts and Tourism provide grant opportunities to non-profit arts and cultural organizations located in Ingham County that are established primarily for cultural, educational, artistic, historical or entertainment purposes. The grant program supports the production of publicity and promotional materials utilized to attract out-of-county visitors into Ingham County.

“The Arts Council is proud to administer Ingham County Hotel/Motel Tax Funds for Arts and Tourism on behalf of the county,” says Deborah E. Mikula, Arts Council executive director. “We recognize the importance of the arts in bringing tourists into the Lansing area, and we are pleased to support the promotional activities of arts and cultural organizations, which, in turn, attract visitors.”

Arts and cultural agencies awarded funding totaling $107,754 in 2014 are as follows:

All-of-us Express Children’s Theatre, Capital City Film Festival, Center Park Productions, Children’s Ballet Theatre of Michigan, Downtown Lansing, Inc., East Lansing Art Festival, East Lansing Film Festival, Friends of Historic Meridian, Happendance, Inc., Holt Community Arts Council, Impression 5 Science Center, Lansing Art Gallery, Lansing Symphony Association, Inc., Michigan Institute for Contemporary Art, Michigan State University Community Music School, Michigan State University Museum, Michigan Women’s Historical Center and Hall of Fame, Old Town Commercial Association, R.E. Olds Transportation Museum, Summer Solstice Jazz Festival, and Williamston Theatre. 

Additionally, seven agencies were selected to receive an INCENTIVE grant, a one-time funding opportunity for up to $2,000 for a new promotional angle: Children’s Ballet Theatre of MichiganHappendance, Inc.Impression 5 Science CenterLansing Art GalleryMichigan Women’s Historical Center and Hall of FameR.E. Olds Transportation Museum, and Williamston Theatre.
