Echo and Imagine–A Taste of Art & Life call for artists

Echo and Imagine
A Taste of Art & Life call for artists

The Arts Council of Greater Lansing is seeking artist-member submissions for its A Taste of Art & Life spring fundraiser exhibit. In honor of our 50th anniversary, we are seeking to feature 50 works of visual art created by our individual artist members* at this event, which will be held at the Turner-Dodge House in Old Town Lansing.

Echo & Imagine

In keeping with our anniversary theme, the exhibit, titled, Echo & Imagine, will feature pieces that capture a feeling or impression of looking back and looking ahead.

Submission contemplation

When considering submission, artists should contemplate not only the theme, but also the venue, which will allow for a variety of creative options for display inside and outside of the Turner-Dodge House i.e., atop a piano on a small easel, leaning on a mantle or shelf, or, weather permitting, setting outside among flower beds or on a porch, etc.

Size matters

Image submissions should be roughly no smaller than 2″x 2″ and no larger than 2’x 4′. Sculptures can vary in size, but artists should keep in mind that the size of the sculpture will determine placement. Submissions can be newly created or from a previous body of work. Each artist may submit up to three pieces for consideration.

Your face, your bio

Submission must also include the requested price for each piece (artists receive 100% and are responsible for all negotiations), a photo of the artist in jpg format and a 15-25 word (150 characters) statement about you/your art. Your photo should be able to be printed at a minimum of 4″ x 6″ to ensure it is of the quality needed by our graphic designer for creating exhibit materials. Please note that this exhibit is being curated by the Arts Council and we reserve the right to accept or reject any submission.

Contracts and details

Once the 50 entries have been chosen, submitting artists will receive a contract that must be signed and returned to the Arts Council. All final work must be presented at the exhibit in a complete and professional manner, ready to be hung or placed. Artists will also be responsible for the delivery and removal of the work on the day of the event.

Your presence a must!

Exhibiting artists must be present at the event to be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. and will receive one complimentary ticket. The event will include entertainment, wine and an array of appetizers and desserts. Artists wishing to bring a guest may purchase one ticket at the member price of $40.
