Arts Council Welcomes New Program Manager

Public Invited to Meet Josh Holliday at Oct. 1 Open House

LANSING, Mich., Sept. 20, 2014 – The Arts Council of Greater Lansing, the capital area’s leader for arts and culture, is pleased to welcome Joshua Holliday as our new program manager.

Josh has spent the past two years as the Gadaleto marketing intern at Wharton Center for Performing Arts. There he implemented the marketing plan and strategies on the social media platforms for both Wharton Center and Breslin Student Events Center and created promotional packages for the more than 30 Broadway shows and performing arts productions each season.

As part of his community-building efforts, he collaborated with local businesses to initiate the patron discount packet and also co-founded and serves as the president of the MSU Arts Council, which initiates collaboration among MSU arts affiliated organizations.

Josh also served as an intern for the Grand Ole Opry for the past two summers where he developed in-show promotions, managed social media, designed graphics and new brand ideas, contributed to website development and planned and facilitated their July 4th celebration. He also has worked in marketing with the Lansing Lugnuts and MSU Athletic Department, where he facilitated pre-game and on-field game promotions.

Josh’s Spartan roots run deep. Originally from Charlotte, Mich., he grew up around campus and calls himself a lifelong Spartan fan. He is also a fan of the arts.

“I share the desire for success and growth of the arts within the Greater Lansing area and beyond,” says Josh. “Through my work experiences, I have developed strong relationships with Lansing area media partners and community organization leaders, which will help me work with the arts community to promote the work of the Arts Council and its members in conjunction with grant management and capacity building.”

Josh will be completing his senior year at MSU and will earn his bachelor’s degree in advertising in the spring.

The Arts Council is excited to add a new member to its team and is looking forward to introducing Josh to the community.

“Josh’s work with the Wharton Center and as the co-founder and president of the MSU Arts Council gives him strong footing and connections within the arts community,” says Arts Council Executive Director Deborah E. Mikula. “He is a charismatic, emerging leader, and I know he is going to be a great fit for the Arts Council. We are excited about adding him to the staff.”

The Arts Council’s Program Manager coordinates, markets and implements smARTS – a professional development program for creatives; manages six funding initiatives that provide grants to the field; and will plan and execute the Placemaking Summit in October 2015 among other responsibilities.

The Arts Council is holding a meet-and-greet for Josh on Wednesday, Oct.1 from 5-7 p.m. at the Arts Council’s office at 1208 Turner in Old Town Lansing. Wine and light appetizers will be served.
