Programs Manager Position Available
The Arts Council is a forward-moving and fast-growing organization. As a result, staff transitions and changes within our organization are expected events. Barb Whitney, Arts Council Program Manager, has been with the council for more than two years, building our membership, creating relationships and running our grant and other programs with measured finesse and skill.
It is no surprise, then, that Barb’s work would be recognized by other arts organizations and that she would be seeking opportunities to grow and expand in her career.

It is, therefore, with great pride that we announce Barb’s transition to executive director at Lansing Art Gallery, where she will begin her role on Aug. 18, 2014.
The move will be a “coming home,” of sorts for Barb who previously worked at the Lansing Art Gallery for nearly eight years as an arts administrator, showcasing the talents of more than 150 Michigan artists, arts educators and youth. Barb was alwo recently accepted into UM-Flint’s MA in Arts Administration program and will begin taking classes in the fall!
And the search begins!
Barb’s transition leaves open an important role at the Arts Council, and we have begun the process of accepting applications for the position of program manager. As one of the key staff members at the Arts Council, the program manager is responsible for management and coordination of all our Arts Council programs including our SmArts, grants and funding, consulting, Young Creatives and more. The ideal candidate will be a people person who will take the lead in advocacting for the arts, building relationships, growing our offerings, communicating with members and reaching out to the community.
