Applause, Applause–Arts Award Winners Honored at Holiday Glitter

Applause, Applause
Arts Award Winners Honored at Holiday Glitter

Each year in September, the Arts Council of Greater Lansing puts out a call for nominations, asking community members to nominate their favorite arts supporters in the area. The winners, who are chosen by a selection committee, are then honored at our annual Holiday Glitter event and presented with an award.

Leadership, commitment, vision and support

For the last 34 years the Arts Council has proudly given these awards to individuals and businesses “for significant contributions to the arts in the capital region through their leadership, commitment, vision and support.” This year, we expanded our nominations to include a civic award as well.

And the awards go to…

We are pleased to announce our 2014 award winners who were presented with beautifully crafted glass awards created by Craig Mitchell Smith. This year the Individual Leadership Award was presented to Gary and Nancy McCray. The Business Arts Award went to Lansing Community College and Dr. Brent Knight and our first Civic Award went to East Lansing Mayor, Nathan Triplett.

Each awardee was given their moment to shine at our 2014 Holiday Glitter Spectacular, where they shared the stage with Arts Council Executive Director and were given an opportunity to share a few words about their passion for the arts.

Unwavering support

The Arts Council is proud to honor these awardees for their unwavering support and dedication to the arts and to the greater Lansing community. Our Awards Program is an important piece of the Arts Council’s mission to promote arts, culture and creativity in the capital region, and honoring our community’s arts supporters is one way we accomplish that.
