ARTS COUNCIL OF GREATER LANSING POSITION ANNOUNCEMENTAVAILABLE POSITION: Communications and Events ManagerPAY RATE: Full time, salaried / exempt position. $31,200 to $34,320 annually.Subject to applicable Personnel Policies, full time employees are eligible for health insurance, participation in a 403 (b) plan with acompany match of up to 5% of salary, paid vacation, sick leave, personal days, and holiday pay.WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm, with one hour coordinated lunch. Somework outside of normal business hours required.JOB SUMMARY:The Communications and Events Manager serves as one of the key staff members for the Arts Council ofGreater Lansing and is responsible for the development and implementation of communications strategiesand event coordination to support the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of the organization.Duties include:Developing and implementing Arts Council communications including the writing, development, anddissemination of press releases, electronic communications, social media, marketing materials, andweb content; Coordinating logistics for Arts Council events;Providing communications and marketing support services to Arts Council members and those in thefield; Mentoring and supervising communications interns and volunteers; andAssisting with other activities necessary for the purpose of generating positive media coverage,increasing arts and cultural visibility, and building community goodwill.  Further, this position serves as the primary contact with the public at the Arts Council office, and theincumbent must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision, demonstrating superior customer service, interpersonal communications, and written communications skills. The incumbentwill also regularly communicate with a wide variety of individuals including artists, arts and culturalorganization personnel, representatives from media outlets, community volunteers, public visitors, localbusinesses, and other regional stakeholders. Additionally, the incumbent will be expected to assist theExecutive Director as needed in developing and sustaining relationships amongst similar and diverse groupsand individuals and will be expected to proactively support outreach efforts in order to positively tell thestory of the Arts Council and the regional arts and cultural community.REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Two years experience in marketing, publicrelations, advertising, communications, or related field. Creative background or a special affinity forthe arts is highly desirable.  Microsoft Office proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite,Acrobat Professional, and other design programs are highly desirable.Outstanding organizational, communication, written, and oral skills, with high attention to detail.Must excel in relationship building and networking. Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, anddiplomacy in a wide variety of public contact situations.Ability to manage a multi-faceted workload with self-motivation under broad general supervision.Ability to work with team members to meet the strategic objectives of the organization.To perform the essential functions of the job, an individual may be required to maintain a physicalcondition necessary for walking, standing, and sitting for long periods of time, general manualdexterity; adequate hearing, vision and speech; and carrying/moving/lifting some moderately heavyobjects.  Travel in personal automobile may be required for Arts Council business, with or withoutreimbursement.APPLY:Send cover letter, resume, and names of 3 references to: Arts Council of Greater Lansing, 1208 Turner St,Lansing, Michigan 48906, or via email to leslie@www.lansingarts.org.
